- First, many thanks to those who responded on my previous dumb
- question: indeed the C compiler for version 4 was packaged on a
- seperate tape (whcih has been misplaced :-( ) and the inst program
- graciously deleted the old version.
-
- Now I have an equally naiive question, but one that has gained me a
- lot of blank stares and well-wishes from non-IRIX sys-admins. In
- moving to 4.0.5, the sendmail.cf file has changed structure
- dramatically.
-
- For most installations, this may not be much of a problem, but here in
- a large university, domain organization is not so friendly. I managed
- to sort through enough to restore our outgoing mail and the plain
- vanilla incoming addresses, but one problem remains that is causing
- headaches for our feeder sites: virtual.rose.utoronto.ca is also
- (apparently often) referred to as virtual.rose.toronto.edu or
- virtual.toronto.edu --- in its present state, my sendmail.cf is
- rejecting mail with those addresses.
-
- I know the rules to add (or I hope the old rules will still work) but
- the question is where to add them. How does one go about tracing
- sendmail's ability to receive these alternate addresses? Any
- comments, suggestions, yes and even just well-wishes :-) gratefully
- accepted! Solutions earn eternal gratitude from my feeder sites :-)
