  12. Hello SGI users:
  13.     I posted the joking claim that the details of SGI's image format
  14. is a closely guarded secret. No sooner had I flamed to this effect,
  15. when several SGI people and a couple of customers, acting independently
  16. and not in concert, hastened to tell me about
  17. /usr/include/gl/image.h
  18. which essentially describes the image file format. This,
  19. together with imgtools in 4Dgifts allows one to write a
  20. program that examines an image file, with a view to 
  21. understanding what is being displayed or improving the
  22. aesthetic quality or whatever we want to do.
  23.     I am sorry to have hurt the SGI people's feelings and regret any
  24. transient effect this may have had on SGI's image.
