- I would comment that the CPU upgrade is probably the more worthwhile and
- cost effective. The G graphics options are pretty good, and unless you're
- doing some really heavy-duty graphics Elan just isn't worth it. We had
- 20G's and Irix 4.0 wasn't usable. Bump up the CPU and they beat the
- heck out of most other machines.

- I think ours was about $7K per trade-in. SGI sent out their Atlanta area
- support guy to do the changeouts as well. The kit includes things like
- a different fan assembly to change the air-flow rate. It's a little
- more than just an E-mod swap. Of course our cost also reflects that
- we were upgrading memory-wise, but keeping the 24-bit z-buffered G cards.
- Prices have probably gone down a bit.
