- FRAMINGHAM, MA (JAN. 27) BUSINESS WIRE - VMARK Software Inc. (NASDAQ: VMRK)
- Wednesday reported net income before extraordinary item of $856,000 for its
- fourth quarter of 1992, ended Dec. 31, 1992, an increase of 73 percent over net
- income before extraordinary item of $496,000 for the three months ended Dec.
- 31, 1991.
- Revenue rose 58 percent to $5,829,000, compared with $3,699,000 for the like
- period in 1991. Net income before extraordinary item for the fourth quarter of
- 1992 was 13 cents per share compared with 9 cents per share in the fourth
- quarter of 1991 while shares outstanding increased 23 percent over the like
- period.
- For the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, VMARK reported net income before
- extraordinary item of $2,782,000, an increase of 61 percent over net income
- before extraordinary item of $1,725,000 in 1991. Revenue for 1992 increased 52
- percent to $18,800,000, compared with $12,375,000 for fiscal 1991. Net income
- before extraordinary item for 1992 was 46 cents per share compared with 33 cents
- per share in 1991.
- Net income for the fourth quarter was $1.19 million (18 cents per share)
- versus $784,000 (15 cents per share) for the same quarter last year. For fiscal
- 1992 earnings were $4.11 million (68 cents per share) as compared to $2.73
- million (52 cents per share) for the same period last year.
- "VMARK achieved continued success in 1992 highlighted by the completion of
- its 16th consecutive quarter of sequential revenue and profit growth," said
- James J. Capeless, president and chief executive officer of VMARK.
- "We enter 1993 with the satisfaction that the company has a solid financial
- foundation, a competitive range of products, a presence in major world markets,
- and a firm position and strategy on which to capitalize on the major trends
- currently reshaping the commercial information industry and marketplace,"
- Capeless concluded.
- The company's distribution channels grew to more than 225 resellers
- worldwide. International sales continued to grow and accounted for 33 percent of
- fourth-quarter revenue and 34 percent of revenue in 1992.
- Through Dec. 31, 1992, the company had sold over 9,500 licenses representing
- an estimated base of 275,000 end-users.
- Sales of PI/open licenses - a product purchased by VMARK in the fourth
- quarter - represented 12 percent of revenue. PI/open is a UNIX-based database
- management and application development software product which provides direct
- compatibility and immediate access to an estimated 6,000 proprietary
- installations and 350,000 users representing the former Prime Computer Inc.
