- My Atari Portfolio has just developed some sort of screen trouble.
- The symptoms appear to indicate that it is unable to drive the whole
- screen at once: if I hit RETURN repeatedly so that only eight lines of
- prompts are on the screen, I can see the bottom four lines (although
- the fourth from the bottom is pretty dim). If I bring up something
- that uses the whole screen, like the diary, I can't see anything. If
- I bring up something intermediate, like the setup screen or the menu,
- the bottom line (horizontal line at the bottom of the menu) is
- missing, and I can see the last couple of text lines in the menu.
-
- I have fiddled with the contrast control and replaced the batteries
- with fresh ones, but to no avail. Has anyone suffered a similar
- problem? Is it susceptible to home remedies? If not, what is the
- procedure for getting one fixed (particularly anybody in the
- neighborhood of west suburban Boston who could work on it), and how
- much is it likely to cost me? Is it worth getting fixed (IYHO), or
- should I try to scrape up the $400 for a Psion-3?
-
- Thanks for any and all replies.
