- Thanks to all those who replied to my previous request. I thought I'd
- summarise the replies I received for anyone interested.
-
- 1. In the latest NOVELL patches 311ptc.zip, there is an NLM called SYNCTIME.
- This periodically syncs the server time to the hardware clock. If your
- hardware clock is accurate but the server loses time, this is what you need.
-
- 2. A set of NLMs called TM (Time Master) and TS (Time Slave) allow one
- Netware server to act as a Time Server for other file servers. This is
- shareware. Look for TIM_SY.ZIP. It is apparently on splicer.cba.hawaii.edu
- but I got it off tribble.missouri.edu in directory pub.
-
- 3. A PD NLM called RDATE will set the time from a UNIX timeserver. You will
- need TCPIP loaded to use this NLM. It uses the Netware TIMEZONE setting.
- According to the manual, this TIMEZONE setting appears to support integral
- hours only and thus would appear to be useless to anyone who lives in a time
- zone that is not an integral number of hours away from GMT (eg South
- Australia and Afghanistan).
-
- If I am wrong about the Netware TIMEZONE setting, I would like to know. If I
- am right, perhaps NOVELL would like to remedy this shortcoming. I doubt that
- there are many NOVELL networks in Afghanistan but there are a fair number in
- South Australia.
-
- Thanks again to all those who responded.
