  12. The gzip idea sounds like a cleaner solution than introducing an entire  
  13. new application like Squash.

  15. I have no problem contributing $20 for a new public domain drive, but  
  16. should I contribute to all public domain sites (eg: sonata, cs, nova)?

  18. Or are we really talking about "retiring" the other sites to "backup  
  19. status" and making sonata the "official" Next archive. From my point of  
  20. view it WOULD be nice to know that all Next public domain stuff exists in  
  21. at least one "official" place. The other sites could be "backups" of  
  22. important or frequently used items I guess.

  24. Assuming the answer to the above is yes, I suggest someone volunteer to  
  25. keep a list of people willing to send in money to sonata (say $20). When  
  26. the total reaches $2000, everyone is asked to send in their checks ASAP.  
  27. (Waiting like that prevents people from sending their money to a doomed  
  28. enterprise.)
