- In the fine world of SCSI driver loading there can be instances of
- SCSI driver conflicts that may prevent a driver from loading during boot.
-
- You may be experiencing this if the driver you want to load (from your
- external disk) is at a SCSI id that is lower than another existing
- SCSI device (i.e. if you have too different external SCSI drives...say
- at SCSI id=6 and id=3...a driver conflict may prevent the id=3 device
- driver from loading). You can test this scenerio by turning off all
- devices with SCSI id's that are higher than the device that is giving you
- trouble and then rebooting...if the troubled device loads you may have
- found your problem.
-
- Sometimes switching the SCSI id of a device on the chain can affect
- how/if the devices driver will load (the Macintosh SCSI manager searches
- from SCSI id=6 thru to id=0 ...external bus first if there are two buses)
