  50. I turned off all extensions and file sharing on my Q700 after experiencing
  51. 30 seconds of disk I/O in several circumstances (starting applications,
  52. trying to read PICT files, sometimes on startup) and occasional freeze-ups,
  53. and I still have the problems.  It is a recent phenomenon, and I cannot
  54. trace it to anything except possibly for using StuffIt.  I have checked to
  55. make sure that the files are not compressed that I am trying to access.
