- Can anyone verify the following story?
-
- Background:
-
- We recently purchased a Mac iiVX with
- System 7.1 from Canon in Tokyo. Today,
- after an _attempted_ fix of the CD-ROM
- drivers by Canon, it will no longer
- boot, giving the message
-
- ╥This startup disk does not work on
- this Macintosh model. Use the latest
- Installer to update this disk. (System
- 7.1 does not work on this model; you
- need a newer version that does.)╙
-
- at system startup. Our Canon rep.
- tells us that this is a known bug in
- 7.1 and that patches or upgrades will
- not be available until end of Feb/Mar.
- Is any/all of this true?? What are the
- workarounds (if any)? Have Apple
- fucked up totally?
-
- I╒ve been in Tokyo a while and am
- almost completely _out of touch_ with
- the Mac system scene in the _real_
- world. Please help!
