- I've never seen Mac GIF files that have custom icons depicting a
- miniature version of the images. But you can easily do this with PICT
- files of course, using AutoCompressor 1.3, freeware from the usual archive
- sites. It's really intended as a QuickTime PICT compressor, but it will
- also do nice thumbnails (preview images stored in the resource fork for
- use in the Standard File dialog box) and custom icons. Therefore, if you
- really want your GIFs to have custom icons, convert them into PICTs, use
- Autocompressor to create icons for them and then paste the custom icons
- back onto your original GIF images
