- I have been using Z-basic since 1986 (I think) when it was version4
- and upgraded to 5.01 and recently Futurebasic. When I first got
- Z-basic, it was much better than Micrsoft basic and has always had
- full toolbox support (although sometimes it was not clear how to
- exactly mesh Inside Macintosh Pascalian calls with Z-basic equivalents).
- Futuebasicc has a much improved editor, showing function lists and
- variable lists as well as an on-line help which is basically the
- manual. Futurebasic includes the Program Generator which lets you
- graphically (Macdraw-like) "draw" the user interface windows, buttons,
- edit fields, etc. It also allows you to embed assembly code right
- in your basic code by prefacing each mnemonic with the "backwards"
- apostaphe (the key to the left of the "1" key). I haven't seen
- any microsoft basics lately, but from what I've readd here,
- Futurebasic seems to be a more complete development environment
- thatt provides full system 7 support (Quiktime,Apple events,
- Ballon help) as well as building INITs, CDEVs, and DRVRs.

- Hope this helps decide
- on a BASIC
