  23.     GifConverter (shareware) can indeed do this.  One thing to make sure to
  24. do with your image  is change the palette from "apple icon colors" to "standard
  25. 256 colors", or whatever your system supports.  Otherwise you picture looks 
  26. pretty strange.

  28.     As for putting it on the desktop, I used to use 'DeskPict' (freeware) 
  29. but I have recently switched to 'ColorDesk' (shareware).  Colordesk allows much
  30. easier switching of pictures, and the 'stretch to fit' is an optional setting
  31. where DeskPict does it to the picture, like it or not.
