- I have an old MacII, with a Dove Marathon 030 accelerator. Some time back
- we bought two FDHD drives and installed one of them in my MacII. It reads
- 800K disks fine, but all 1200K disks are read as being damaged, with bad
- sectors, or totally unreadable. (The same 1200K disks read fine on other
- Macs.) As we had bought two FDHD drives from Apple, we tried swapping the
- upgrade ROMs, and then tried swapping the drives. Same problem. The drives
- worked fine when put into a IIsi, but refuse to work in my MacII.
- When the drives are installed in my MacII, the diagnostic program "Peace of
- Mind" indicates the disk drive is bad, but all other hardware is OK.
-
- I have run out of things to try, and have essentially given up, and
- switch to another machine when I need to use a High Density disk.
- Has anyone else had this experience, or any suggestions? Is there some
- incompatibility with the Dove Marathon 030 and the FDHD?
