- In general, you cannot safely change the welcome message with ResEdit --
- you can make it shorter if you're careful, you cannot make it any longer.

- I wrote the program Welcome to change the message properly -- it involves
- resizing a resource in the system file and moving some data around. As
- Jeff states, Welcome is free (it was only an evening's hack), and is
- available on sumex-aim in info-mac/util/welcome-editor.hqx, as well on
- many other bulletin boards.
