- The new Apple Stylewriter II is out. I find it to compare favorably with
- the HP Deskwriter. Here's what I've found about the SW II : 360 dpi, ink
- jet, and can do apple greyscale. The speed is certainly faster than what I
- have seen for the Stylewriter I. It is networkable.
- The Speed spec's frmo the manual are as follows:
- Up to 3 pages per minute in draft mode (180 dpi).
- Up to 2 pages per minute in normal mode.
- Up to 1.5 pages per minute in best mode.
- Actual speed depends on the images printed and on the Mac used.
- It uses the sheet feeder for up to 100 sheets of paper or 15 envelopes.
- Apple also redesigned it to be one piece instead of two like the old SW.
- Since I use my SW II for business, most of my needs are using the truetype
- fonts for decent looking memos and spreadsheets. Graphics certainly look
- good with the grey scale, but as with any ink jet, lots of black areas make
- the paper curl slightly. But then, if you are doing lots of graphic output,
- you will probably want a higher caliber printer anyway.
- You should be able to find a SW II priced for under $320.
