  22. Well, it's not clear cut. To wit (From the booklet: Getting Started with
  23. your Macintosh IIci, pg. 18):

  27. Warning: To avoid damaging your computer and expansion card, do not 
  28. attempt to install any expansion card without first checking the Apple
  29. documentation for that card. If the documentation specifies that an
  30. Apple authorized dealer or service provider must install the card 
  31. (usually because the installation require special training or tools),
  32. be sure to have your Apple dealer or service provider do the installation.

  34. Attempting to install the card yourself *may* [emphasis mine] void the
  35. Limited Warranty on your computer. If the card is not an Apple-labeled
  36. product, then check with an Apple authorized dealer or service provider
  37. to see if you can install it without voiding the warranty.

  41. As I read this, it means that it's up to the *service provider* to 
  42. determine if the installation will void the warranty. I wonder what
  43. the average service provider will say?

  45. That's a rhetorical question. Of course they'll claim it voids the
  46. warranty. Every single stinking time, if they're more interested in
  47. turning a profit, instead of having happy and satisfied customers.
