-
- I just received a case zero-foot-print style external case from
- CasaBlanca Works, Inc.
- 148 Bon Air Center
- Greenbrae, CA 94904
- 415-461-2227
-
- CasaBlanca Works is better known for their drive formatting software utility,
- Drive7. They include a limited version, Drive7-Lite, with the case. With the
- purchase of a case, you may purchase the full version at a discount price.
-
- The case is a nice one. I liked the fact that the SCSI cable is properly wired in
- the "horse shoe" fashion and not in the "stub" style frequently seen. The case
- includes two extra AC outlets, a fan, a power supply, a power cable harness,
- AC power cord, and a SCSI ID switch. A power LED and drive activity LED are
- also included. The case is all metal.
-
- The case arrived without *any* supporting documentation. If you are not
- familiar with wiring and (physical) mounting of drives, you get *NO*
- hand-holding instructions to guide you. No drive mounting hardware was
- supplied.
-
- They have four styles of internal/external hardware available. The Zero-Foot
- Print case costs $85, and cheaper in quantity.
-
- I opted to get the full-version of Drive7 at time of purchase. This turned out
- well because the "lite" version was unable to recognize the drive I was trying
- to re-format, a Maxtor LXT-213-SY that began life inside a Sun SPARC-IPC and
- was initial formatted under the Sun O/S. The Drive7 version was able to handle
- the drive and reformat it for the Mac OS. The full version in $40 extra.
-
- I have no connection with CasaBlanca Works. I noticed their small display ad
- in the back of MacWeek and bought a case, my first purchase from them.
-
- Best regards,
-
