- You can get both on one board, if you wish. Look for the Mac Products
- ad in your fav Mac mag. It is called the "Magic LC030 with CoProcessor,"
- there is no 030 on the board, just the pmmu and a fpu. I was going to
- order one about 10 months ago, they were advertising them, but the
- manufacturer didn't have them ready yet. The people I called kept
- giving me different answers when I asked what it really was. I was
- told more than once that it was an 030, but it is not. I am sure they
- have all of that figured out by now, though. Not a bad deal... really,
- may want to see how much the LC to LCIII upgrade is(possibly $500?).
- You would get the PMMU, a speedier system(~2X), and an optional FPU
- built in. Is this correct about the FPU? I seem to remember reading
- that in the 1.11.93 or 1.18.93 MacWeek.
-
-
- On a somewhat related note, what actually would the LCIII upgrade
- all include?
-
- I have: LCIII
- 020 030
- no PMMU PMMU (virtual)
- 10 meg ram (maxed out) 12 meg (4 on board and 2-4meg simms)
- 16 MHz 25 MHz
- 16 bit 32 bit
- optional FPU?
- 16bit on the 12 inch (with the same vram)?
-
- Would this be about a 2X processing speed increase?
-
- I am looking forward to the upgrade if this is all true. I hope Apple
- doesn't do something and make it slow relative to it's clock speed like
- the IIvx. I figure get the upgrade and then buy a 32 bit 040 accelerator
- when the prices drop some more, fall-winter 93.
-
- Let me know if this is too opitimistic. I guess we will know for sure in
- 13 days!
-
- Thank you,
