- The IIsi is now cheaper than a Powerbook 100!! (J&R Music World)
-
- That means that people really really would like a CHEAP Powerbook. They
- don't care if it is only a 68000 or if it has no internal floppy disk.
- Just a portable Macintosh that they can use the occasional (or frequent)
- times they need it away from their desktop machine. If a new Powerbook
- was realeased with only a 16Mhz 68000 (but with the similiar PB design)
- and WITH AN INTERNAL FLOPPY drive, and was priced under $800 I bet it
- would be the hit of the decade. $800 is not an unreasonable figure for
- the Powerbook with an internal drive. Just 3 months ago you could get
- a 100 with an external floppy NEW for a little less than that.
-
- So with prices getting cheaper and cheaper for technology,
- it may even be possible to make the Powerbook 150? that would
- have a 16Mhz 68030 and still be under that price. THAT would REALLY be the
- sellout of the century. But for some reason all the new powerbooks cost
- at least $2000 and have features that are nice but they are not a necessity.
- Most of all many people just can't justify spending $2000 for a second
- Mac. And the fact that your portable is most powerful than your desktop
- may be a point that many don't get the 145 or 160. And getting a new Duo
- System may be too much for many.
-
- I hope Apple is reading this. If you agree with this just post a one liner
- followup.........
