- Hi,
-
- My Dad has two SE-30's sharing a 4D database. Both machines have 5 Megs
- of RAM and 80 Meg Hard Drives. They are connected using ethernet. The "First"
- computer is the one where the database resides.
-
- The problem is this:
-
- SPEED!!!
-
- The database is about 40 Megs and when both computers are acessing the
- information, text entry is very slow. (About 30 Seconds for the Second
- computer to accept information and send it the First computer) Forget about
- running reports (About 15 minutes to generate a list of people who, for
- example, haven't been in the office for the last three months.) It even takes
- about 10 minutes to run a report the second computer is not on!!
-
- I know that the database is very disk intensive, but will a 50 MHz accelerator
- speed things up significantly? Any other suggestions??
-
- Thanks for your help.
