- Hello everyone,
-
- I've got a Quantum LPS105 that's generating vibration within my SE.
-
- I installed the drive some months ago, and since that time I've
- noticed that the Mac shakes much more than it ever used to.
-
- At times, the vibration is enough to start the case shaking (some
- case resonance is being excited). This is, of course, annoying.
-
- To pinpoint the problem, I disconnected the internal fan (in case
- it was the culprit) but the problem remained. Since the only rotating
- component left is the drive, I'm assuming that it is the source of the
- "problem".
-
- I would suspect that this type of behaviour is unusual, since a
- hard drive is a fairly precise piece of machinery (as consumer items go).
-
- Am I sitting on a time bomb?
-
- Jim
