- : Both 70 & 100 ns simms should work fine in the plus, but you have to clip a
- : resistor when you go to 4mb. I think it's numbered 35 and says 256 (and very
- : near the edge of the motherboard), but I would have to look it up. (I know what
- : to do when I'm looking at the board, I just cannot remember).
- NO, the R35 is the SE resistor NOT the Plus one. Mr Feldman says that both
- R8 and R9 has been removed, so it's NOT the resistor problem. I suggest he
- checks the SIMMs, it's probable they were damaged during the installation.
- Touching the SIMMs without being grounded may damage them, static electricity
- is very harmful to electronic components.
- (Maybe your local university store may accept to check them ?).
- If checking the SIMMs tells they are OK, then i'm afraid i can't help him.
- (an ultimate test : reinstall the older SIMMs, you can solder the R8, and
- reinstall FOUR 256 KB SIMMs, if your older SIMMs don't work then i'm afraid
- you Mac has been damaged during the installation process).
- About the SIMMS speed, the Mac+ needs 150 ns SIMMs min, so 100 ns & 70 ns
- should work.
