- Recently, Bob Feldman wondered why his plus did not like his new simms:
-
- BF> We have a Mac Plus which we'd like to upgrade to 1 MB SIMMS. We
- BF> ordered SIMMS by mail, but were unable to get them working,
- BF> either with 100 ns or 70 ns SIMMs. Should either of these work?
- BF> Is there a switch that needs to be changed in the Mac Plus when
- BF> going from 1/4 MB to 1MB SIMMs?
- BF>
- BF> The 100 ns SIMMs caused the system not to boot. The 70 ns SIMMs
- BF> caused it to boot and hang. The vendor claims both sets of SIMMS
- BF> tested OK when we returned them.
-
- Both 70 & 100 ns simms should work fine in the plus, but you have to clip a
- resistor when you go to 4mb. I think it's numbered 35 and says 256 (and very
- near the edge of the motherboard), but I would have to look it up. (I know what
- to do when I'm looking at the board, I just cannot remember).
-
- Hope this helps,
- Liberty,
- Michael
