  14. I need to buy a removable media product at the end of the week and I 
  15. have narrowed it down to two products:  the SyQuest 88 or the Bernoulli
  16. MacTransportable 90 PRO.  I have found that both cost ~$500, but 
  17. cartridges for SyQuest cost ~$100+ while those for Bernouli cost ~$150+.
  18. That along with the fact that SyQest is a very popular format, as 
  19. evidenced by the fact that almost EVERYBODY sells there own brand 
  20. SyQuest, while Bernoulli tends to be a bit scarce, would make me lean
  21. towards to SyQuest.  However, a while back on the net I followed a
  22. similar dicussion and found that SyQuest was taking a beating among the
  23. John Q Public critics.  I would like two sorts of responses for this 
  24. post:

  26. 1)  You have used both a SyQuest (44 or 88) and a Bernoulli (90, but 
  27.      any model) drive.  Please give me a comparison of the drives, 
  28.      listing your idea of pros and cons and any trouble with 
  29.      either/both of them.  Please be specific.
  30.      
  31. 2)  You have had trouble with either of the drives and would not 
  32.      purchase another.(I ask for problems because I believe you learn 
  33.      more about a product that way)  Please include the specific 
  34.      trouble you had in your post
  35.  
  36. NOTE:  PLEASE give the name of the MANUFACTURER of the drives (Spin, 
  37. APS, Club Mac, etc...) if you can.  This way the mechanism won't be
  38. given a bad rap by a bad manufacturer (especially if the problem was 
  39. not the mechanism:  power supply, SCSI termination, cheap case, etc...)

  41. Please post as soon as possible as I have to buy one or the other 
  42. during the first week of February.  Thank you for your indulgence and 
  43. hopefully your help!  :)
