- the only use of mmu is virtual memory, so it is true that 68000 machine can't
- use virtual memory. that does not mean there is any affect on the performance.
- 286 can't use virtual memory either. i could be wrong.
- what i posted is some marketing thinking, it is interesting tot see how those
- computer and chip companies competing with each other.
- as far as i know, the top line of mac used to be faster than pcs, however, p5
- might change the picture(486 already is better than 68040 at the top speed).
- that means apple will HAVE to switch to powerpc to kepp the performance
- competitive. however, recent news about overheat of p5 bring some uncertainty.
