  24. True, there isn't *that* much software, yet. Hardware's getting better.
  25. NeXT's now have an adb keyboard bus, so they can use most Macintosh adb 
  26. peripherals (as long as they don't require a software driver).

  28. Of course, if you're *writing* software, it's a very, very nice platform.
  29. And the software is coming out. Hell, there are already four renderman programs
  30. announced, if not more (two shipping, maybe three). There are a gaggle of 
  31. spreadsheets on the way, with at least one shipping other than Improv now.
  32. for desktop publishing there's Framemaker, PasteUp, Pages (on the way) and I
  33. believe more. There's a few Photoshop-like apps. There's Adobe Illustrator and
  34. Altsys Virtuoso (i.e. Freehand).

  36. And best of all, most commercial NeXT apps have demo versions on the ftp sites.
  37. How many Mac commercial apps have free demos available on sumex? (Actually,
  38. I'm curious: are there any? I haven't looked)

  40. I think this year will be a big year for NeXT software. NS486 will increase
  41. the installed base substantially, providing a greater stimulus for development.
