- I have some concerns about the new IIsi that i got last week. It
- came with a very light version of Hypercard called Hypercard Player,
- which I gather is supposed to inspire people to buy the Hypercard
- Development software. Anyway I was trying to use the 'magic'
- command that someone said allows one to develop stacks without buyng
- the software. I never succeeded but did succeed in having the
- computer freeze up while in the application. There are no reset
- buttons on this Mac. Doing command-control-shift-escape didn't do
- anything. I had no choice but to turn off the power.
- Since then i've noticed that when I turn on the computer, it whirrs
- and then makes a very audible 'kerplunk' sound before starting up.
- Another IIsi I have access to doesn't do this. Also, I installed
- Word 5.1a. I notice the balloon help for Word is very slow, and so
- is deleting after selecting text.
-
- I'd love any suggestions or diagnoses. Did turning the power off
- injure the computer? Should I contact Apple?
-
- P.S. The Mac came with system 7.1. and this is the 5 mb ram
- configuration. Also the bookstore wasn't able to get the 80 mb
- drive that came with the bundle offer, so I was given a 160 mb
- drive, which delights me, especially if i can fix the above
- problems.
-
- PPS. Am I posting to the right newsgroup?
- Thanks a lot.
