  16. Two methods come to mind. If you have a Hayes modem, try sending the modem the
  17. command  &T19. Hayes also wrote a stand-alone application that used this
  18. command to the modem to check the cable.

  20. Or, use a continuity tester to check the connections to the Mini-DIN-8
  21. connector at Pins 1 and 2 as follows:

  24.     HSKo     1 ----------  4,20  RTS, DTR
  25.     HSKi     2 ----------  5     CTS
