- Another option that you didn't mention is MacPost. It is an e-mail program
- written by the Lund University Computing Center in Sweden. We are running
- it here in the J-School and really like it. We do not yet have a
- connection outside our building and onto the campus backbone yet or I'd be
- sending this with MacPost. MacPost is a IMHO very well writtten program,
- very professional, and the support is great. There are several major
- universities using it around the U.S. (I don't have my list here, or I
- list a few) and they are pleased with it as well.
-
- MacPost can be run on just an AppleTalk network (what we have) or it can
- be tied to an ethernet link using SMTP. I don't think there is anyone who is
- using a SLIP connection yet but I'd be willing to bet that it can be done.
-
- Finally (geez this looks like a commercial ;-) ), and probably best of
- all, MacPost is FREE. Yep, and the support is great (I know, I said that
- already) and the product is continually being upgraded, not to fix bugs
- but to implement feature and suggestions from its' users. Thats what I
- call technical support :-). The official FTP site for MacPost is:
- Internet: macpost@ldc.lu.se
- Bitnet: macpost@selund
-
- or you can get it from Sumex.
-
- Obviously I am a very happy user of this program, and I would have no
- problem recommending it to anyone looking for and E-mail program.
