- Just received a new copy of SuperTetris and discovered it has a
- "head-to-head" mode of play over Appleshare or via modem. I am running the
- game primarily on my new IIvx. I have experienced no problems in the single
- play mode. I thought I give the "head-to-head" mode a try with my SE before
- I sell it.
-
- The setup is not exactly user friendly, but it does work. My problem is the
- sounds on the IIvx seem to get interrupted when playing in this mode. The
- result is the music sounds scratchy or has dropouts. The SE does not have
- any sound problems in "head-to-head" or single play modes. The IIvx is
- running 7.1 and the SE 6.0.7.
-
- Anyone out there with any ideas what might be going on? It seems like the
- Appleshare hardware/software is taking away processing time form the sound
- system. I would think the faster IIvx would have no problem with this.
- Maybe the SE is so slow the network stuff doersn't interfere with the sounds.
-
- I guess it also could be a design flaw in the IIvx. I have seen some stuff
- about sound and midi problems. Maybe this is related. It also may be a
- problem with the way SuperTetris handles the sound and network software.

- P.S. - My original copy of Tetris had problems playing sounds on the IIvx
- also. It was a similar situation with the sound having dropouts. I seem to
- recall that when I turned off all inits etc. the problem went away, but I am
- not sure. I haven't tried turning off all inits on the IIvx to see if the
- "head-to-head" sound dropouts go away.
