- I had this problem and eventually fixed it. A few tips:
-
- 1. The updaters only work on SD 3.0.3, StuffIt Engine 3.0.3, and SpaceSaver
- 1.0.2. If you have earlier version you'll need to update to 3.0.3/1.0.2 before
- you can update to 3.0.4/1.0.3.
-
- 2. Increase the Finder's memory allocation for the SD updater to 1024K.
-
- 3. I thought this problem was unique to my hard disk, but maybe I was wrong.
- If the updater can't find the files try copying them onto a floppy and updating
- them there. You'll need an HD floppy to update SD. It may also work if you
- copy (i.e. option-drag, not merely move) the files you want to update to a
- different location on your hard disk.
-
- Let me put out a call for bug reports here. Has anyone else found that
- StuffIt Deluxe 3.0.3/StuffIt SpaceSaver 1.0.2/StuffIt Engine 3.0.3 fail to
- appear in OpenFile dialog boxes like they should for applications like ResEdit?
- I had this problem and attributed it to corruption in my hard disk's data
- strcutures likely caused by Norton Utilities about a month ago. However
- updating those three files (by moving them onto floppies and updating them
- there since the updaters were some of the applications that couldn't find
- them) fixed the problem with my hard disk's data structures as far as Norton
- could tell. (Norton had been unable to fix them previously.)
