  24. Mac.Archive.Umich.Edu is still seriously crippled, ftp-wise, due to a 
  25. very swamped network (so the sysadmin of the machine we currently use
  26. for FTP severely limited the access) and we don't have any other
  27. departments providing ftp service (I'm working on this as much as I
  28. can... but some people seem pretty nervous about letting people ftp
  29. to our archives through their machines, sigh)...
  30.   
  31. In about a month or two, this ftp access problem will disappear by
  32. magic.  I'm keeping quiet until I'm sure it's set up and ready!

  34. You can access the archives NO PROBLEMO through two other ways...
  35.  
  36. AFS access (type in "ls /afs/umich.edu/group/itd/archive/mac" on your
  37. machine.. if you see the familiar mac.archive directories, make a link
  38. in your home directory to our archives and NEVER ftp again!)...
  39.  
  40. or Gopher access (gopher to the host "gopher.uis.itd.umich.edu", for one).

  42. To get files to us (and to Sumex and Comp.Binaries.Mac and some other
  43. ftp sites at the same time), just e-mail the files to 
  44. "macgifts@mac.archive.umich.edu".

  46. And to get on our new files mailing list, drop me a note at 
  47. "mac-recent-request@mac.archive.umich.edu".
