  12. I ordered my GUS from Telemart for $127 + $8 shipping and received it after
  13. five days.  I upgraded the memory to 1M and installed both the chips and the
  14. board with no problems.  Unfortunately, the software installation didn't go
  15. along as smoothly.  My disk 5 had an error, so the installation program
  16. kicked me out without installing everything else that it could load.  The
  17. board was V1.22 and the disks were V1.21.  After downloading disk 5 (and
  18. disk 6 just to be safe,) I managed to get the software installed.
  19. Fortunately, I have a 14400 baud modem :) and access to the Internet, so
  20. I didn't have to wait two weeks to try the board out.  When trying to install
  21. the Windows drivers, somehow one of my program groups was corrupted.  I'm
  22. not sure what happened.  While all of the software was being installed, I
  23. checked all of the literature that came with the package and noticed that
  24. the registration card was missing.  There was a paperclip in the middle of
  25. the instruction manual that seemed like it should have been holding
  26. something.

  28. Now the questions:

  30. 1. What are the bundled software packages that I heard will be included
  31.    with the card after Jan. 25?
  32.  
  33. 2. Will I be eligible for a free upgrade since I purchased the card
  34.    recently (Jan. 20)?

  36. 3. If not, is the price $10 + $4, as I've seen posted?
  37.  
  38. 4. How common have missing/damaged disks been for other people?
  39.  
  40. 5. How common are missing registration cards/other literature?
  41.  
  42. 6. What is the general consensus on the best SBOS, 1.20, 1.22, or 1.23?

  44. 7. Is the message from the Windows Media Player that 'This file may not
  45.    play correctly with the default MIDI setup.' supposed to appear, or
  46.    have I messed up the installation?

  48. 8. What are the best IRQs and DMA channels to use for DOS/Win 3.1/OS/2 2.0?

  50. 9. What are Gravis' plans for OS/2 drivers?

  52. Thanks in advance for any advice and answers.  I've been happy with the
  53. sound quality of the card, although I've never really listened to a
  54. Soundblaster or PAS-16 before.  The quality of the sound compares favorably
  55. with the Amiga and the Mac.
