- I've only had my GUS or even had an MessyDoS machine for two weeks.
- But I've stumbled onto a cure. I was fortunate to read in
- StarControl II (my only game other than Silent Service II) that
- the extended memory management can slow things down. They recommended
- making a clean system boot disk, i.e.

- I created an autoexec.bat file from a few things from my normal
- autoexec.bat file (I think the Gravis stuff, paths and the
- like). When I boot with this it runs fine. Before I learned this
- it ran really slow, especially digitized speach.

- BTW, I can't even get digitized speech going now---it hangs
- at the loading 95% part. I probably don't have something configured
- right here in my autoexec.bat file---if anyone else knows what it
- might be I'd be grateful to hear.
