- I have a relatively new Mitsubishi 40 meg MFM formatted drive,
- I believe the model is MR535 but I may be wrong. . It works
- fine but it rattles. I ignored the problem for a while because
- I figured I had just failed to install something with a tight screw,
- but on examination I now see that the rattling is inside the drive.
- It is driving me mad.. sounds like a loose screw, periodically
- stopping, starting again at a different pitch, stopping again.
- Is this the way it is supposed to work? The drive works faultlessly
- and is relatively silent when read/write accessing. Unlike the
- 7 year old Miniscribe in the same machine which is silent until
- accessed, then makes a bit of noise (as it always has anwhich
- I consider normal for this drive!).
-
- I don't imagine I should open it up and look for a loose screw?
-
- Serious suggestions would be appreciated.
