- This subject has been discussed at length in sci.crypt and someone wrote
- a C program to code & decode VCR+ codes. The only place I know it is
- available from by ftp is black.ox.ac.uk in /scrc/vcr+.shar.Z
-
- VCR+ was designed for people who can't figure out how to set the clock
- on their VCR. Rumor has it that 8 out of 10 can't do that, people even
- tape over the clock to stop seeing it flashing. Also VCR+ was designed
- to make lots of money first by selling VCR+ remotes to the 8 out of 10
- and second by sellling the codes to the TV guides & newspapers. The
- algorithm is jealously guarded by the VCR+ folks and stories have gone
- around about how their legal eagles tried to stop dissemination of any
- info about how to do it yourself.
