- Unfortunately, the chances are that it will _not_ work.
-
- My experience is this: last summer, we went to the zoo. I had my
- HP95LX in a carry bag along with a water bottle. Someone forgot to
- close the bottle an some water leaked. The 95 was on end in the bag,
- and the end with the power connector and serial port connector was
- down. It got wet. I estimate that less than 0.3 cm^3 of water was
- "wicked" into the 95's innards.
-
- Now, if the 95 had been off, I could have dried it out (as described)
- and I expect that it would have worked fine.
-
- HOWEVER: THESE DEVICES ARE NOT OFF! THEY ARE DRAWING CURRENT TO
- MAINTAIN THE CONTINUOUS MEMORY! I would have had to remove _all_
- batteries _immediately_. I (and chances are you) did not.
-
- Actually, the inside looked neat. There was this gray fuzz that had
- grown among all the chip leads...
-
- The 95 was totalled. $325 to repair (ouch!). I now have two carry
- cases for it (one at home, one at work) (I really like the Sparcom
- case.)
-
- IEEE Spectrum had an article on how water affects electronics. I
- think it was sometime in the spring of 92.
