  14. Fortunately enough for me, most of you out there in netland realized, I was 
  15. posting an opinion and not a fact.  Having "Stupidly" deleted my .signature 
  16. file, my disclaimer was no where to be found.

  18. Some things I think that need to be said.

  20. 1) I didn't mean to imply that I or DEC thought users were stupid.  I meant
  21. to imply (and most people picked up on this) that in my opinion, DEC was
  22. just being extremely cautious by not having patches available.  I personally
  23. feel that we need to do something to get the fixes out in a reasonable,
  24. timely, and efficient matter that solves customer's problems and doesn't
  25. cost DEC an arm and a leg.  Posting them on the internet is one
  26. solution.

  28. 2) I think that instead of discussing it here, we should do something about it.
  29. I propose the following: Send me a mail message (since I've already marked
  30. most of the news messages as read, and came into this discussion in the
  31. middle,) containing the following information:
  32.  
  33.     Why DEC should post patches on the internet.
  34.     How all of us would benefit from this.
  35.     If you currently pay for telephone support how this would effect it.
  36.     (in other words would you drop it or continue it)
  37.     Your name and phone number complete with area code.
  38.     If internet access is refused, what other options might work.
  39.  
  40.     I will collect these until Feb. 8, 1993.  On Feb. 8th at 17:00
  41. I will take this mail and forward it on to support myself and others in their
  42. work to change the current policy.  It may help, it may not, but it is at
  43. least an attempt.
