- In order to make it possible for atari.archive to use zip for YA
- archiving standard, I'll release this port of unzip to the ST.
- This should be available soon at atari.archive...
-
- Here's the readme I put with the executable. If you are a programmer
- (or at least a good porter), please be sure to read the "What I want
- you to do" section.

-
- Info-ZIP's unzip 50 patchlevel 0
- --------------------------------
-
- This is a (poor) port of Info-ZIP's portable PKZIP compatible archive
- extractor. Please read this entire document before using the program.
-
-
-
- What's good about it
- --------------------
- It's compatible with PKZIP and STZIP (although STZIP doesn't seem to be
- able to handle filenames that aren't in 8.3 format, while unzip does.)
-
- It's compatible with Info-ZIP's zip 19 patchlevel 0, so it can be used
- to extract zip files made on Unixes or other OS's.
-
- It was compiled with GCC, and the GCC libs. This means it is
- Unixmode, MiNT, and extended filesystem aware.
-
-
-
- What's not so good about it
- ---------------------------
- I don't know much about Unix programming, so the port is not as good as
- it should probably be. I've tested it some, and it seems to be ok, but
- don't trust it too far.
-
-
-
- What I want you to do
- ---------------------
- If you know enough to port this correctly, __please__ do so. The package
- comes with some Atari support, but I think it's a better idea to use GCC
- and the GCC libs and pretend it's Unix instead. This allows the above
- mentioned advantages of being Unixmode, etc. aware.
- Also, it wouldn't hurt to get zip running on the ST's also. I have an
- even poorer port of that, but I won't release it because it's too buggy.
-
-
- Hope this helps someone a little...
