- Well, aactually, bad PC sales were the LEAST of IBM's problems (I should
- know--I bought 75 shares at $79). You also have to figure in restructuring
- costs, the costs involved in shedding jobs (severance pay, replacement
- assistance, etc.), bad (in the toilet) sales of Mainframes and Minicomputers
- and on and on. If PCs were IBM's only problem, it would be easy to solve.
-
- However, we get to be insulated from all of this. After all, we've never
- seen Atari lose first place as maker of computers. We've also never seen
- Atari's "blue chip" stock jump off a bridge. However, I must admit, IBM's
- stock chart (from 156 to 48 in 5 years) is slightly reminiscent of good
- 'old ATC... :-)
