- Don't know whether IBM is going to fold or not, but I do know that they just
- posted the biggest single-year loss of any company in the United States of
- America. The news article in the business section of our local paper had quite
- a story about how 'unprofitable' things have become for IBM. If memory serves,
- IBM lost 5.2 billion dollars U.S.
-
- The majority of Intel-clone manufacturers are in no danger unless IBM pulls
- entirely out of the PC market and focuses on newer technologies. The
- Intel-clone market has gotten big due to corporate 'trust' in the technologies
- of IBM.
-
- We'll have to see what comes out of the 'Pink' project between Apple Computer
- and IBM. Let us hope that the stockholders don't force such projects to shut
- down because they're more interested in short-term profits.
