- My current late-night project is producing a Cyrillic font for the ST
- (since I can't read my own handwriting in cyrillic, and I'm tired of getting
- my russian homeworks back covered in red ink :-)
-
- Since I'm poor :-) this has to all be done on freely available tools.
-
- I've used GemFed to make up a cyrillic GDOS font based on 12-point Athens,
- and fortuitously discovered that the copy of Write On which I got on an
- ST Format Cover disk understands .FNT files. But I need more details:
-
- By what ratio should I rescale the font for it to come out correctly on
- a 9-pin printer (an Citizen to be exact, but it's Epson-complete)?
- I undestand that I'll have to do some tweaking after that, but right now
- I can't get the basic rescaling right.
-
- What are WO's other <fontname>.* files for? I'm guessing that there's a
- "this font in italics" one, and (?) a proportional widths file, etc, etc.
- Without adequate documentation I can't add these for my font.
-
- How does he keyboard remapping file work? I've found the thing, but I don't
- feel confident enough to fiddle unduly. It would be nice to have a couple
- of key maps, say one for the real russian keyboard and one for yazerty...
-
- I guess a lot of this stuff is in some FAQ somewhere.
-
- Please send replies to me and I'll summarise.
-
- Needless to say, I'll post the final font.
-
- Thanks in advance.
