- Finder does use the icon files instead. Your problems might relate to icon file
- search order.

- Finder 6.0 has a preference to prevent saving the Finder.data files. This
- should work, unless it automatically converts old files. I doubt locking the
- files will make a difference. The Finder.data file format changed from 5.0.4 to
- 6.0.
