- Like others, I have found that I occassionally need to clean my 3.5" disk
- drive.
-
- Whenever I start to get weird problems, like when I can't format a disk, or
- when I can't read a disk, I just pop in a Radio Shack disk cleaner that uses
- a wet solution, and I'd say that in 9 out of 10 cases, those unreadable
- disks become readable again.
-
- That might happen once or twice a year. Since the head cleaner is slightly
- abrasive, I don't think it's a good idea to use in on a regular basis.
-
- I've also found that it helps, every couple of years, to open the drive
- case and remove excess gunk that has found it's way in there. I have a bald
- spot, and always wondered where that hair went when it fell out. After I
- opened my 3.5" disk drive, I found every one that ever fell out. Inside the
- case.
