- I don't know if this is contributing to your problem, but it could
- be: CDev.Init is *not* part of System 6.0, and the Installer should
- have removed it when you installed.

- If you copied System 6 files yourself instead of letting the installer
- do it, I heartily recommend you run the System 6 installer.

- (CDev.Init in System 5 was responsible for calling CDevs (control
- panels) at startup time, for those control panels that need it. In
- 6.0, the ControlPanel NDA already does that, so your CDevs may be
- getting started up twice. With certain control panels that leave
- some code in memory and patch it into the system, that could be a
- big problem.)
