- Could someone please post or mail a comparison between CDTV, CD-I, DVI etc.
- from which it could be compared for which applications each technique is
- suitable, what kind of hardware and software is required (both additional
- to existing platforms and stand-alone systems), price for a working system,
- available material (e.g. how many disks released and what kind of applications)
- and where and no of systems totally sold ?
- Alternatively, where can I findsuch a comparison? I do not have time to make
- a big literature study, but some article telling what these systems are about
- would be of use. Would e.g. CDTV have be usable in business applications or
- is it only for games and residential use?
-
- I also like to state, that the market figures are not always only up to the
- best technical solutions, but much of having the "right image" enabling the
- product or service to reach the critical mass, and that the product fit into
- the existing infrastructure, and enables the user to do something which he/she
- has a need for. There are many examples, but the only that belongs here is
- why the Amiga support has almost disappeared from the market - at least in
- Finland. My opinion is that it is a matter of image MORE than any other reason,
- though I admit that also some minor "real" reasons exists.
-
- I am afraid the same story will be true for CDTV if it ever even reach a
- mass market.
