  11. I just upgraded my system to OS 2.1 and I'm pretty happy with it except
  12. for two things:

  14. First, the apparent lack of speech synthesis support.  I thought that this
  15. had been improved in release 2, but the docs don't mention it at all.  My
  16. old 1.3 SAY program still works, but, of course it still sounds the same.
  17. I tried Speechtoy2, but it doesn't run at all.  No errors, just no program.
  18. Workbench tries to load the program, but returns right away; same with
  19. calling it from the CLI.  Anybody help me with this?

  21. More importantly, I seems to have taken a major speed hit in writing to
  22. the screen when I upgraded.  Under 1.3 my A530-equipped 500 performed about
  23. 4.09 times as fast as a stock 500 under AIBB 5.0's WRITEPIXEL test.  Under
  24. 2.1, however, the rating is only 2.5!  What happened?  Did I really lose that
  25. much performance?  And is there anything I can do to get it back?
