- Strange. I have a Quantum P105S (5.25" older drive) and a Maxtor
- LXT-213S. The Maxtor is ****dead silent**** whereas the Quantum has a
- fairly continuous chattering noise when in use. Certainly not
- distracting though. The A2000 fan obscures even the Quantum. Also, the
- Maxtor drive has been much more robust for me. The quantum has been
- relegated to Test: and Backup: partitions for stuff that I can afford
- to lose. I have a suspicion that it is more heat sensitive than the
- Maxtor. As for speed, the Maxtor is rated as faster than the Quantum
- but in practise, is actually a little slower. I don't know how it
- compares with the newer 3.5" Quantum ProDrives.
-
- For my next drive I'm going to go top-of-the-line and get something
- like a Fujitsu with a 5 year warranty. I can't afford to have a
- substantial financial investment with only one failure mode -
- catastrophic. "You get what you pay for"

- Don't know. Sorry.
