  13.     I want to upgrade the 52meg Quantum to something larger.
  14. The 240meg Quantum is out of my price range, so I was looking at either
  15. the 170 meg ELS Quantum or the 213 meg Maxtor.  Their specs are similar
  16. (aside from size) and prices comparable.  While the extra 40+ meg would
  17. be nice, I've heard discussion around this group that Maxtor drives
  18. are louder and mecanically inferior.  I really can't hear the Quantum
  19. I have now, and I know someone with an older Maxtor, and it's definitely
  20. noisy.
  21.     I've also heard that the new Quantum ELS drives are "slower" than
  22. the older LPS.  Is there any truth to this?
